The Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) maintains an Investors’ Protection Fund. The purpose of the investors’ protection fund is to compensate investors with genuine claims of pecuniary loss against Trading License Holder firms (parties that have been issued licenses to trade in securities from SEC).

Insolvency, bankruptcy, or negligence of a Trading License Holder firm of a securities exchange or capital trade point; and Defalcation committed by a Trading License Holder firm or any of its directors, officers, employees, or representatives in relation to securities, money, or any property entrusted to, or received by the Trading License Holder firm in its course of business as a capital market operator.

Please see below. Claims can be made of up to N400,000 but it is important to note that terms and conditions apply, it is not a given that customers will receive compensation, they need to follow the Nigerian Exchange Group's claims process as is set out in the document attached below.
